Building Kerala's Community Drinking Water Infrastructure

Since 2016, Water World has been committed to creating sustainable drinking water solutions that improve public health, strengthen communities and support long-term development across Kerala.

INTRODUCTION

Access to safe drinking water is one of the most fundamental requirements of a healthy society. Yet for many communities, institutions and public spaces, establishing reliable drinking water infrastructure remains a challenge. Water World was founded with a simple vision: To make safe drinking water accessible through dependable, sustainable and professionally managed infrastructure solutions. Over the years, this vision has evolved into a statewide mission that continues to serve communities across Kerala through Water ATMs, Water Kiosks, RO Plants and long-term maintenance services. Today, Water World stands as one of Kerala's most experienced community drinking water infrastructure providers, with more than 350 installations spread across the state.

OUR STORY

From Water Treatment Solutions to Community Infrastructure

Water World was established in 2016 with a focus on water treatment and purification solutions.

As the organisation worked closely with local governments, institutions and communities, it became increasingly clear that the challenge was not merely water treatment.

The larger challenge was:

Accessibility

Sustainability

Maintenance

Long-term operation

Communities needed systems that would continue functioning years after installation.

This understanding shaped the evolution of Water World from a water treatment supplier into a complete drinking water infrastructure implementation partner.

THE TURNING POINT

Guruvayur Municipality – Kerala's First Water ATM

A major milestone was achieved in November 2018 when Water World successfully established Kerala's first Water ATM at Guruvayur Municipality.

The project demonstrated how technology, public infrastructure and community service could come together to improve access to safe drinking water.

The initiative received significant public attention and established a model that would later be replicated in various forms across the state.

More importantly, the continued successful operation of the system demonstrated the importance of quality implementation and dedicated maintenance.

This project remains one of the defining moments in Water World's journey.
